In God ' s Hands

Life-Saving Care Close to Home
When Rosalie Weber had a stent removed in the aftermath of kidney stone surgery last December , the 79-year-old thought she was saying goodbye to what had been several weeks of pain and discomfort . She couldn ’ t have foreseen that four days later , she would be back in a hospital , gravely ill and fighting for her life .
Fortunately for Weber , a resident of Chatsworth , help was close by at AdventHealth Murray . Doctors there diagnosed her with sepsis , a condition that occurs when the body ’ s response to an infection damages its own tissues .
“ I had lost all my faculties ,” she recalled . “ My calves had swollen up larger than my knees . I had no feeling from the waist down .”
Once the AdventHealth Murray team confirmed the infection , the response was swift .
“ They just took over and got me into a room ,” Weber said . “ Everyone was so nice to me . They had to take care of me like I was an infant . There were people lined up clear out the door — every kind of doctor and even a chaplain .”
