“ They were doing their jobs but because they wanted to , not because they had to . It was professional care , but their hearts are on their sleeves . It was a really great experience in the middle of a bad one .”

“ They were doing their jobs but because they wanted to , not because they had to . It was professional care , but their hearts are on their sleeves . It was a really great experience in the middle of a bad one .”

- Rosalie Weber
Weber spent the next five days as an inpatient , during which time she was unable to bear the sight of food , much less consume anything solid . What few liquids she did take in had to be supplemented by IVs .
“ I didn ’ t sleep those first two days . I didn ’ t know where I was ,” she said . “ But someone was there every half-hour , watching over me . I worked at a nursing home for 19 years , and I didn ’ t think I would ever go through anything like that .”
Once her condition stabilized , Weber ’ s medical team released her , requiring her to come back to the hospital for two weeks of daily antibiotic infusions . She described her legs as still feeling “ like two logs attached to my body ” upon her return home ; however , by the time she had completed all 14 of the one-hour infusions , Weber said she was walking comfortably with a cane .
The outpatient treatments — which lasted from mid to late December — were an extension of the care she had received during her inpatient stay at AdventHealth Murray .
“ They were family , and I ’ ll never stop loving them ,” she said . “ They were doing their jobs but because they wanted to , not because they had to . It was professional care , but their hearts are on their sleeves . It was a really great experience in the middle of a bad one .”
In the months following her sepsis treatment , Weber has found the road to complete recovery to be longer than she had expected . She is still working to regain full strength in her legs and feet , and her appetite isn ’ t as strong as it was prior to her infection . But she acknowledges that the intervention of the professionals at AdventHealth Murray played a pivotal role in her survival .
“ Without their TLC , I might have gone into a panic and wound up in a different situation than I did ,” she said . “ It must have been in God ’ s hands .”
