That background should serve Abraham well as he looks ahead to possible expansions at AdventHealth Murray .
“ The potential to build a new campus in this area is there ,” he said . “ That ’ s exciting for me .”
His facility-level leadership will also involve translating the mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ to patient-level care . As an administrator , Abraham has a number of specific treatment-centered goals .
“ We want to continue to develop our clinical capability so we can keep more patients here in this community ,” explained Abraham , who filled the position in January . “ We want to expand our surgical services as well as the number of specialists we offer . We would also like to have a progressive-care unit , which is like a step-down from intensive care .”
Abraham brings more than 20 years of health care experience in acute and ambulatory care operations to AdventHealth Murray . He began his career as an
Army medic and registered nurse , later progressing into health care administration and executive roles .
Those previous duties have prepared him for some of the challenges facing the health care industry , including making sure his facility is properly staffed . The biggest need right now : nurses .
“ It ’ s a nationwide issue . There is a high number of traveling nurses out there right now , but they come at a higher cost ,” Abraham said . “ The nursing shortage will continue to grow as baby boomers age and their demand for health care increases . Physicians are in the same boat .”
Abraham was drawn to AdventHealth because of its alignment with his values . In fact , he had been interested in the organization since relocating to Florida eight years ago .
“ It ’ s a really great culture here . I feel like God led us here ,” he said . “ Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ really resonates with me ."
Abraham received his Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain , Georgia . He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at South University
