INLAND NORTHWEST AEROSPACE CONSORTIUM SPOTLIGHT F or example, airlines might come to Absolute Aviation for help in switching their lighting systems from fluorescent to LED lights or to get an LED module repaired for a fraction of the eight thou- sand dollar replacement cost. In addition to repairing components that in-house maintenance shops or others can’t address, the company also specializes in identifying the root cause of problems and developing customized solutions by working closely with cus- tomers. The engineering team collabo- rates with customers to track and ana- lyze reliability data, conduct research, design, and test repairs that will increase safety and reliability. The company employs 31 people in a 7,000-square-foot facility near the Spo- kane International Airport. Shaun Fuller, director of operations, credits a highly talented team for Absolute Aviation’s success. “We have a top-notch engineering team in-house with electrical, mechanical and software engineering expertise,” he explains. “Instead of outsourcing design work, our engineers work directly with our customers and our technicians to develop the best solutions in the least amount of time at a reasonable cost.” Initially established in 2004 and pur- chased by the Wencor Group in 2012, Absolute Aviation is one of Wencor’s nine component repair facilities located across the country. As part of this larger network, Absolute Aviation has the opportunity to share best practices and incorporate key processes that improve efficiencies and work flow from other Wencor companies. Fuller believes that being part of a national network pro- vides another competitive advantage. OCTOBER | NOVEMBER 2019 ISSUE NO. 11 57
