Edmonds Community College currently
offers two associate’s degrees in engineering
technology — materials science, and manufacturing
and materials science. A Bachelor
of Applied Science in Advanced Materials
and Manufacturing - Engineering Technology
(AMMET) is in development.
Singh said the implementation of degrees like
AMMET is an example of how the college
is proactively looking at the future needs
of its community and industry partners and
responding with programs that will provide
a highly-skilled workforce. This is a unique
and innovative degree that is the first of its
kind in the U.S.

“We’re not waiting until the demand is here,”
Singh said. “We’re thinking and planning
ahead to create programs that will keep the
workforce pipeline filled and meeting industry
needs.”
Singh credits the 10-year success of the
WATR Center to strong leadership and partnerships
between the center, Edmonds Community
College, industry and community
leaders, and support from Washington State.
He’s looking ahead to continued success and
meeting the training and educational needs of
workers and industry.
More than 2,000 graduates of the WATR Center have found employment in aerospace manufacturing.

WATR is a training center managed by Edmonds Community College through
an agreement with the Aerospace Futures Alliance. WATR Center offers students
the technical and employability skills needed to find entry level positions in
aerospace and manufacturing. The center also offers customized training and has
