But they still feel fortunate to be in the region and value their Northwest customers . They moved ABW from Everett 20 years ago . The reason ? Anderson said , “ Space is the best way to answer that question . It is harder to come by affordable manufacturing locations that are central to Seattle . It was a good decision to move here 20 years ago .” He cited that more and more companies are going north or south of Seattle to get more space .
Most of the employees of each company live within 20 to 30 minutes of the plant . Anderson commutes 50 miles each way to work , “ It ’ s my time to think . I spend much time on the phone and can be productive in the car ,” he said .
The other benefit to being in the region is their partnerships with other companies . For local shops who struggled during the pandemic , Anderson said they ’ ve been able to call on them and utilize their capacity . “ They are just a stone ’ s throw away to have a coffee and chat about an opportunity ,” Anderson said .
