If the sky is not the limit , then what is ? In some cases it is supply chain constraints . In some cases it ’ s the availability of the right talent with the right work ethic . ( That ’ s why we have a scholarship program and hope you will help meet the goal of $ 50K this year .) Is our leadership ready to be agile and adapt to the changing circumstances that this situation demands ?
In the various PNAA meetings and webinars , I have learned that the types of airplanes we build and fly changes over time as circumstances change . Sometimes military fighter jets are predominant ; other times it can be drones . I read in the Wall Street Journal recently about new attempts to have commercial supersonic jets , some of which have already been ordered — even when they are yet to be proven and are illegal over land still . A big change is the move from twin aisle jets for passengers to single aisle jets . What if the answer in the future is we need wide body aircraft that will allow every passenger to have the space of
a first class passenger in order to achieve social distancing for passenger acceptance ?
eCommerce has been around for quite some time now , but has really taken off ( all pun intended ) thanks to the current situation . While passenger aircraft miles have decreased as a result , the cargo aircraft miles have significantly increased . Some passenger aircraft have been converted to cargo planes to meet the new demand for moving freight on a global basis .
I refuse to accept that the sky is falling . I do not see the sky as the limit for our future in the aviation industry . Rather , I am the optimist that sees CAVU . The skies are not cloudy all day as in the song , but they will be filled with aircraft , just maybe different aircraft than we projected two years ago .
