A
nother example -- earlier
in 2018, Rockwell Collins won
a coveted Crystal Cabin Award
during the Aircraft Interiors Expo
in Hamburg, Germany, for its
Silhouette MOVE dividers that
were designed, built and deliv-
ered from the Everett site. The
dividers rotate like a seat back,
and are configured to increase
the space for head path (in the
upright position) thus creating
up to 10 inches of extra space in
the cabin for more seats or to add
premium economy rows. They
are also designed to give bulk-
head-seated customers an extra
foot of legroom.
B
oeing is a major customer
for the plant, which is why B/E
Aerospace originally picked the
site at the south end of Paine
Field, some four miles away from
Boeing’s Everett Factory at the
north end.
But it’s far from the only custom-
er, Skelly said.
“We’ve got an OEM element
to our business and a retrofit
business as well,” he said. “We’re
targeting both segments of the
market from this facility. We’re
here to support the OEMs and
industry in the area, but we also
can supply the rest of the world.”
Under Rockwell Collins, the Ev-
erett plant has been less affected
than many suppliers by recent
upheavals in the industry, Skelly
said.
