No one ever said, “Seattle, we have a problem” but that doesn’t mean the Pacific North-
west isn’t a significant contributor to America’s space legacy. In fact, engineers from
Boeing helped America win the Space Race. They supported the early Mercury capsules
in the 1950s, the Apollo missions that eventually landed on the Moon, the Lunar Rover,
and later, Space Shuttle missions that would ultimately service the International Space
Station.
