WTAAC can provide direct technical assis-
tance to help companies through qualifying for the
program, scoping projects, recovery strategy evalu-
ation, and everything related to program operations
and paperwork. Once companies are qualified, they
then propose the uses of the matching fund through
a business-plan-like document called an Adjust-
ment Proposal (AP). These matching funds match
the cost for third-party consultants to help firms ex-
pand markets, strengthen operations, and increase
competitiveness. Firms involved in TAAF contrib-
ute a matching share for the recovery plan and for
the various service providers performing the jobs
they specify and approve. Funds are not provided
directly to firms but instead paid directly to the
service providers. The EDA’s partnership with
NWTAAC allows applicants to receive customized
assistance from industry experts knowledgeable
about the unique needs, challenges, and opportuni-
ties facing industries in the Northwest. Companies
in the program select the service providers they
prefer to work with. Any competent party is a
potential service provider.
