P ower-to-weight ratio is critical in aerospace, Ganzarski said. magniX’s engine is liquid-cooled, which allows for the ability to operate at higher alti- tudes without losing performance. To date, magniX has completed 1500 hours testing with 300 hours on an “Iron Bird” (a fuselage of a Cessna Caravan aircraft with a battery-pow- ered electric propulsion system turning a propeller). They have built 10 motors and have delivered their first motor to a launch customer. The evolution of the technology means that companies producing electric motors will be in a continuous R&D mode while produc- ing products for customers. “We have designed our aircraft to re- place the existing combustion engine. Our focus in the near term is to have our motors approved by the FAA, which we hope is completed by early 2022,” Ganzarski said. magniX is reaching for the top. “We want to be number one in our space,” said Ganzarski. They will go to the Paris Air Show this year to show off their products. magniX Technologies Pty Ltd US Tel: +1 541 203 0552 AU Tel: +61 (0) 75563 3833 Email: [email protected] 38 NORTHWEST AEROSPACE NEWS Tethers Unlimited, Inc. 11711 North Creek Parkway South, Suite D-113 Bothell,WA 98011-8804 Voice: (425) 486-0100 Fax: (425) 482-9670 [email protected]
