A
nother way to practice law in
the JAG Corps is to be imbedded
into a unit advising the command.
This is most often seen at the
brigade (3,000-5,000 soldier unit)
level. A senior attorney would
supervise one or two more attor-
neys and a handful of paralegals,
handling all the legal issues of that
particular unit. They can cover a
wide spectrum of disciplines and
the brigade JAG has to be on her
toes, always learning new areas
and being able to spot issues in
mission planning sessions as she
works with the staff.
Whether working in that firm-
like OSJA environment or with a
unit, you never know what type
of issues you will see; frequently
a JAG will be exposed to new
practice areas.
