It is looking like 2018 is off to a great start
and is going to be another memorable year
for North Texas Dentistry. We appre-
ciate all the support we have from our read-
ers, advertisers and contributors.
April is Oral Cancer Awareness month and
we are pleased to help promote the Oral
Cancer Foundation Walk/Run to be held
April 7 at Bachman Lake in Dallas, a fun
event serving a worthy cause. Make your
plans to participate or make a financial do-
nation. Details can be found inside!
Once you have a diagnosis of oral cancer
you need to find the care of a talented and
compassionate surgeon. We are pleased to
present one such professional as this issue’s
cover story. Dr. David R. Kang focuses his
practice on head and neck cancer with a
special interest in the treatment of oral can-
cer, salivary gland cancers and other malig-
nancies of the head and neck. It was a
pleasure to meet Dr. Kang and to view a
portion of his surgical world. I think you
will enjoy a look inside the practice of this
gifted and caring surgeon.
Oral cancer screening performed by dental
hygienists during routine cleaning appoint-
ments is the first step in early detection.
Texas A&M College of Dentistry con-
tributes a step-by-step guide to this impor-
tant procedure.
Timely editorial rounds out this issue.
Insurance Update looks at how #MeToo
could affect the dental profession; Texas
A&M College of Dentistry discusses the
dentists role in diagnosing a rare autoim-
mune disease, and Practice Transitions
outlines valuable considerations for finding
the right buyer for a relationship-based
practice. Enjoy these articles and more!
