In this part we will introduce you to a 7-phase process of working towards an operation strategy for the living laboratory Nordhavnen , which aims at moving from a reactive to a proactive way of working .
The first important point to make here , is that the plans for new urban developments include several aligned mobility features , arising alongside each other , together composing a certain ‘ package ’. This package of mobility features represents the ‘ current Copenhagen style ’ of mobility and includes elements such as high-quality public transport access within walking distance or comfortable bicycle lanes throughout the city . As urban planning and mobility planning are handled in an integrated way in Københavns Kommune , also more land-use related planning elements are included , such as aiming for densely populated inner city quarters and mixing residential , social and commercial facilities throughout the quarter . A well-balanced mobility package is refined further and further while experiences from different urban developments are building up ; Sluseholmen learnt from Ørestad ; Nordhavnen learned from Sluseholmen and Ørestad . In each step it is tried to make things a little bit better . Here comes this first part of the strategy in . We believe that the pace of adjusting and improving can be speeded up , when the framework is geared more towards it explicitly . This includes to ensure mechanisms for adopting mobility solutions that are

FUTURE-PROOF by understanding and proactively engaging in societal trends

ATTRACTIVE by including innovative elements that are magnetic for bringing vibrant urban life to Nordhavnen

COLLABORATIVE by inviting many actors into the process and carrying solutions together
