How did these encounters
prepare our tradition to survive
in the Diaspora?
July 15
After days of delay the groups arrived
in Jerusalem today. What did they
think about it? Two members of
Kvutzat Bialik shared their feelings.
Yael says "The wait just made it so
much sweeter to get to Jerusalem.
I've been here before but sharing it
with others my age is a whole new
experience that makes it so much
more meaningful." Gina added "I
learned so much from the guide. It is such an inspiring experience.
I couldn't be happier!!"
In yesterday's email, I forgot to mention that all groups met at
the Tzemach Beach on the Kinneret at the end of our final day in
the Galil. Everyone had a wonderful time on the beach and in the
waterpark's various waterslides.
This morning we woke up to a new day- the day that we
journeyed to Jerusalem. The symbolism of going up to
Jerusalem on this 17 of Tammuz, the anniversary of the day the
Babylonians broke through the walls of Jerusalem, is stunning. A
day of mourning that is now a day of joy for our 250 teens!
After packing the buses, the entire Seminar moved towards
Jerusalem. We stopped for a break in Meveseret Zion, and then
continued to the Armon Hanatziv Tayelet (Haas Promenade),
overlooking the Old City of Jerusalem. After a short appreciation
of the view, and arrival ceremony with the Shehechiyanu
Blessing, all kvutzot went straight to the Old City, for a visit to the
Kotel and the Jewish Quarter.
