4 . Context analysis

Methodology of research
This chapter gathers and analyses some of the most relevant information related to the site and its context .
The context analysis investigates and collects basic information on the actual and future conditions of the area and its surroundings and how the new development could be inserted into the general infrastructural network of Yerevan city .
Analysing the context helps to understand the positioning strategy for Noah ’ s district new development . In other words , how is this development going to diferentiate itself from others ? What are the functional , symbolic and experiential needs that it is going to fulil ? How this will be related and interconnected with the existing and future infrastructural network ?
Even if this investigation could not be fully developed at this stage , it will inform and direct further research to be developed and deined in the next stages of the Master Plan .
A particular attention will be forwarded to a better understanding of the existing and on-going projects that could either complement or compete with Noah new district , the capacity of existing infrastructure to provide access to the site , and services to fulil new demands , land use , public transportation , environmental values to be preserved , relationship of the site to the surrounding built environment , culture and heritage , community facilities .
At this concept stage , the current analysis is mainly focused on a qualitative approach to better understand the following strategical elements : accessibility to the site and connection with the vehicular road system , interrelation of the Noah district with the main attractions of the city and the local markets and similar functions .
