NMBEST or New Mexico Bridging Effective practices and Schools Together is a digital clearinghouse built in partnership with WestEd and Doing What Works (DWW). Its purpose is to provide research-based and classroom-proven instructional and leadership strategies to improve school practices in New Mexico. It is our goal to create an online library of easy-to-use resources that support teachers, schools, districts, and technical assistance providers to implement research-based instructional practice.

Research is led by the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) in coordination with the American Institute of Research (AIR) and the RMC Research Corporation. NMBEST relies on the Institute of Education Sciences (IES), the Department of Education, and other entities that compile research-based practices under stringent standards that are ultimately evaluated and become recommend practices on the NMBEST site.

NMBEST content is based on information from the What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) and Doing What Works (DWW). The WWC evaluates research on instructional and school leadership practices and interventions that inform the education community know what is likely to work in a school environment. NMBEST and DWW used both WWC and IES practice guides in an easy to read format. Some NMBEST content is based on other information and materials not from IES, but have been stringently reviewed to ensure these practice meet research reliability, can be replicated at a school site, and have validity in a school environment.

NMBEST has been created to provide real-world examples so that administrators and educators can apply these research findings, but are not the only ways to implement these instructional practices. Please note that the examples on NMBEST—including any products named in school materials or found on websites referenced on NMBEST—should not be construed as an endorsement by the PED of any products, programs, or curricula.
