January Above: At FJCL Regionals, Morgan K. is filled with an endless amount of excitement as she receives her trophy for Best of Show in Greek Literature! Brandon Mitra, Florida, January Winner Left: Aequora tutor Victoria helps sixth graders from the Peninsula Bridge Program make their first Latin vocabulary cards. Ethan Yan, California, Honorable Mention Right: Every January, we celebrate Saturnalia. We all gather at a person's house and bring a Greek/Mediterranean dish that we followed the recipe and cooked. First we stuff ourselves with as much food as possible, then we gather around a fire. We each have a little slip of paper with a couple of words written on it and we burn that paper. It signifies the start of a new and better year. Leave the bad things in the previous year. After burning we put on a little inspired skit about slaves and how their life changed during saturnalia. After the skit, we eat some more and go home. Devansh Dalal, Texas, Honorable Mention 29
