Easter Bunny hops into South Plainfield
Local 100 annual Easter Egg Hunt
More than 800 parents and children cast their eyes
on the ground, hunting the sweet treats, chocolates
and prizes hidden in pastel-colored eggs at South
Plainfield Local 100’s annual Easter Egg Hunt at the
South Plainfield Police Athletic League on March 19.
Children 10 and under did their best to fill their
Easter baskets with some of the 10,000 eggs hidden in
the grass, many of which contained prizes including
tickets to Medieval Times and family breakfast packages.
Local 100 members served hot chocolate and other
refreshments to onlookers, and helped children learn
how to operate a police vehicle while waiting for a
photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny.
“Local 100 President Lloyd McNelly and State Delegate Joe Glowacki are both dedicated to being an
integral part of the community,” acknowledged Sergeant Pete Magnani. “They don’t want officers to just
be badges that conduct car stops and respond to calls.
The Local hosts fundraising events throughout the
year where they can mingle with the community, and
let them see the human side of (law enforcement).”
There was nothing but smiles all day long, as every
child walked away with a plush animal to kick off their
Easter festivities. d
