Union City Boots and Badges aids
house fire victims
Following the five-alarm fire that
took the lives of five children and
left a family with nothing on July
13, Union City Local 8 teamed up
with the North Hudson Firefighters
Association to respond.
On July 28, the first responders
rallied for a Boots and Badges col-
lection drive. Members of the com-
munity could find Local 8 members,
firefighters and EMS personnel at
three different locations through-
out the city to make donations to
the victims of the tragic fire.
At the city council meeting on
Sept. 4, the first responders pre-
sented a check for $8,301 that will
be donated to the victims in an ef-
fort to help them recover from such
a tremendous loss. d
