The meaning behind the
bands for Passaic
County Conference
For the month of Octo-
ber, members of the Passaic
County Conference will show
support for breast cancer
awareness by wearing pink
bands on their badges. Pas-
saic County Sheriff’s Officers
Local 286 member Jim Weston
came up with the idea for this
charitable effort after becom-
ing the Local 286 President in
July. Weston wanted to start
something that would benefit
a worthy cause, and the first thing that came to mind was his
mother.
“My mother is a breast cancer survivor. This is something I
hold personal,” shared Weston. “I’m a mama’s boy. I saw what
she went through and I just want to do something to give back.”
Weston announced his fundraiser at the Passaic County
Conference meeting, where he invited all Locals to purchase
the $5 pink bands and wear them for th e entirety of Breast
Cancer Awareness Month. Profits will benefit various breast
cancer charities.
