You are covered for life
Local 600 has secured a relationship with an agency that can provide access
to life insurance offerings designed specifically for NJSPBA Local 600 members,
and come Memorial Day, this benefit will begin to be available.
“We’ve been trying to set this up for a while but it’s been a bit of a struggle
to find the right insurance company that would offer the best programs for our
guys,” says Local 600 Benefits Coordinator Jim Toma. “We had to take into
account everything including geography, since many of our guys live all across
the U.S.”
To meet the needs of the
members, these programs
require two fundamental elements: First, they require the
ability for members to speak
directly with licensed agents
that not only represent the
finest carriers such as Prudential and Met Life, but who are
also familiar with Local 600.
These agents will be available to
consult with and assist in
obtaining the best program at
the best price.
“Because of the ages of our guys
and their various states of health,
it’s been hard for some to get
insurance. But with guaranteed
issue, now everyone will qualify.
I think it’s going to be one more
asset to our members.”

Second, the products offered must meet the needs of all of the members.
Some members will be able to qualify for the best products currently available
due to their good health history. However, there will also be other members who
cannot qualify for life insurance due to current or past medical issues.
With the Local 600’s new programs, members who previously didn’t qualify now can.
Included in the new relationship are coverage
offerings on a guaranteed-issue basis with no
questions asked. This means that members
between ages 45 and 85 that may have or have had
major or debilitating illnesses now have options to
obtain coverage.
“Because of the ages of our guys and their various states of health, it’s been hard for some to get
insurance,” Toma explained. “But with guaranteed-issue, now everyone will qualify. I think it’s
going to be one more asset for our members.”
Members can get started by visiting Local 600's exclusive benefits page at
www.njspba600.org to learn more about this program and to connect with
someone who will be able to help you shop for the best program that fits your
needs. d
