Bloods put out hit list on Rikers Island COs
A "hit list," handwritten in black ink, was
confiscated from a cell

Center on Rikers Island
in New York. The list
with the title "BloodHenry J. Roster" and "Top
10"was made by a highRuiz
ranking Bloods gang
member and targeted
Rikers Island officers and staff with
violent attacks.
Sources from Rikers Island say the
Bloods are offering “50 points” each
for any attacks on “yard officers” or
“security officers.” According to the
note, the attacks were to start May 1.
Officials did not release the name of
the Bloods member who had the note,
but it was mentioned to correctional
officers during their roll call. A source
stated that there was a second "hit
list" which included names of doctors,
nurses and social workers.
Solitary confinement under attack
For several years now, the “Stop
Solitary” movement, which argues
that solitary confinement constitutes
inhumane treatment and hurts the
mentally ill inmate, has been gaining
support and momentum across the
U.S. In February, New York prison
officials agreed to stop isolating pregnant, mentally ill and juvenile
inmates to settle a lawsuit filed by the
