feeding each other to put the PBA ahead 4-1.
If the first period was about conflict resolution and the second period was a matter of being vigilant, then the third period was the time for no complacency. Philly had cut the lead to 4-3 when the line of Taco, Scherer and McAndrew struck again.
McAndrew banked a shot off the goalie’ s back to make it 5-3, then set up Taco in front of the net to make it 6-3. Scherer hit Taco with a pass, and he whizzed a shot under the goalie’ s armpit for a three-goals-in 54-seconds spree that accentuated this trio’ s connection.
“ When they made it 4-3, we were like,‘ What the hell are we going to do about it,’” said Taco of his line scoring seven of the nine goals.“ We just work well from when we started this team, and if we’ re on, we get a night like this.”
Travis Daniel scored an NHL-caliber goal – a slap shot that went top shelf, as the hockey aficionados would say – and there appeared to be many at this game. For most of the third period, the PBA-dominant crowd went bananas for all the right reasons, which included celebrating the achievements of the PBA Hockey Team.
“ When they’ re going nuts, you love it,” Taco confirmed.“ You don’ t have chances like that in life anymore. That’ s why it’ s great to have this team.” d
