When Arcidiacono took a shot, it appeared to be the last
straw. Margadona was caught in a scuffle that hockey machis-
mo dictated be settled with the drop of gloves and some at-
tempted punches. Nothing really connected, and the teams
decided to retire to their dressing rooms after the first period
and cool off while the ice was resurfaced for the rest of the
game.
“We definitely needed the ice to be done because we all
needed to cool down,” confirmed Morris County Sheriff’s De-
partment Local 151 member Tim McAndrew. “We said, ‘Let’s
put the fighting aside and just play hockey.’ And that’s what
we did.”
According to Scherer, the PBA stopped the BS and got back
to playing hockey. For this team, that usually begins with
goalie Joe Aliseo of Elizabeth Local 4 making a couple of saves
that would be SportsCenter Top 10 nominees. Aliseo’s mag-
ic included stopping a two-on-none Philly rush, which led to
Asbury Park Local 6’s Damien Broschart taking a long pass to
score for a 2-1 PBA lead.
Scherer added that the PBA is at its best when moving the
puck and scoring. Within nine seconds of the second period,
Scherer and Taco made some memorable moves, taking turns
