A sign for West Milford Local 162
Just in time for Memorial Day 2018,
the members of West Milford Local 162
dedicated a park sign to honor all veter-
ans who have served in the armed forc-
es. The sign was placed in West Milford’s
Veterans Memorial Park, which is located
on the grounds of the Town Hall. The sign
reads, “Veterans Memorial Park, Honor-
ing All Who Served.” It bears the insignias
of the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air
Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Ma-
rines.
The idea for the sign came when Local

members noticed that one of the trees,
which was planted in memory of a fall-
en soldier, lacked lighting. The PBA took
steps to add a light to that tree, which was
planted in honor of Lance Corporal Bri-
an P. Parrello, a Marine who was killed in
Iraq in January of 2005. Local 162 thought
it was imperative to honor Parrello be-
cause he was the brother of West Milford
Sergeant Anthony Parrello, who served as
a Local 162 State Delegate.
The installation of the sign proves that
Local 162 is willing to go above and be-
yond to honor those who have risked
their lives to serve in the armed forces. d
