A sign for West Milford Local 162 Just in time for Memorial Day 2018, the members of West Milford Local 162 dedicated a park sign to honor all veter- ans who have served in the armed forc- es. The sign was placed in West Milford’s Veterans Memorial Park, which is located on the grounds of the Town Hall. The sign reads, “Veterans Memorial Park, Honor- ing All Who Served.” It bears the insignias of the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Ma- rines. The idea for the sign came when Local 162 member Jill Brickman noticed that the park lacked a sign and suggested that the Local donate one. To raise funds for the donation, the Local sold T-shirts and also utilized proceeds from its annual beefsteak dinner event held in February. A former member of the town council also made a substantial donation, which allowed for the Local to add LED lighting to the sign. Once the sign arrived, Local members gathered to assist the township DPW with installing and lighting the sign. The PBA took steps to add a light to that tree, which was planted in honor of Lance Corporal Bri- an P. Parrello, a Marine who was killed in Iraq in January of 2005. Local 162 thought it was imperative to honor Parrello be- cause he was the brother of West Milford Sergeant Anthony Parrello, who served as a Local 162 State Delegate. The installation of the sign proves that Local 162 is willing to go above and be- yond to honor those who have risked their lives to serve in the armed forces. d
