Celebration of Life
Hope. Honor. Remembrance.
The NJ Sharing Network’s Celebration of Life traveled 9.3
miles across three towns to spread support, awareness and
hope for those in need of lifesaving organ and tissue trans-
plants. Thousands of dedicated donors, families, friends, do-
nor recipients, volunteers and community partners joined
the NJ Sharing Network at locations across the state for 5K
events while raising money for transplants that give the gift
of life to those in need.
From Paramus to Long Branch to New Providence, the 5K
Celebration of Life raised more than $1 million toward its
ultimate goal to reach $1.25 million. The Celebration of Life
honors those who have given the gift of life, pays tribute to
those who have received a transplant, offers hope to those
currently waiting for a transplant and remembers those who
passed away while waiting for the gift of life.
“It is an incredible event with an outpouring of support
that enables us to share our live-saving mission even fur-
ther,” stated NJ Sharing Network President and CEO Joe
Roth.
The mission of this lifesaving, non-profit organization re-
sponsible for the recovery and placement of donated organs
and tissue for those in need of a life-saving transplant played
out at this year’s Celebration for Life when Darryl Price, 55, of
Denville, took to the streets with his running shoes and new
lungs to participate in the 5K event on June 4 in New Provi-
dence, just one year after receiving a double lung transplant.
Located in New Providence, the NJ Sharing Network,
which operates 24/7/365 with a team of more than 150
highly trained and dedicated members on staff, celebrates
30 years of saving lives and 613 transplants made in 2016.
Today, there are more than 120,000 people waiting for a
transplant, and 22 die each day, but one organ donor can
save eight lives, and one tissue donor can restore health to
over 75 others.
New Jersey residents can help save lives by register-
ing as an organ and tissue donor and joining NJ Shar-
ing Network at its upcoming events. To learn more,
