A memorial for the ages

On May 23, the New Jersey Law Enforcement
Memorial Service, the oldest state-wide memo-
rial for fallen officers in the nation, attracted of-
ficers from across the state. The ceremony hon-
ors not only those lost in the line of duty this
year, but also those lost in the line of duty since
1854.
As family members and friends of those being
honored packed the Great Auditorium in Ocean
Grove, they saw the names of 501 officers being
honored. The ceremony remembered three NJ
State Troopers and one state corrections offi-
cer: Senior Corrections Officer Nikeelan “Nick”
D. Semmon and State Troopers Sean Cullen,
Frankie Williams and Lieutenant Bill Fearon.
Attorney General Christopher Porrino
summed it up perfectly saying, “We come to-
gether to honor (law enforcement) and to hon-
or this great profession.”
The ceremony recognized that what these
four officers did to serve the state will never be
forgotten by the law enforcement community.
Just as has been the case for the past 113 years,
law enforcement will always be grateful to these
courageous officers and their loved ones. d
