Howell Local 228’s holiday heroes
Howell Local 228 once again was given
the opportunity to provide a helping hol-
iday hand to members of its community
by hosting the fifth annual Shop with a
Cop event, courtesy of Target’s Heroes and
Helpers program.
Local 228 members Maureen McBride,
former State Delegate Paul Mazzeo and Lo-
cal President Chris Nagy were instrumental
in organizing the Shop with a Cop event,
which helped children from 12 selected
families in need stock up on gifts for the
holidays.
Local 228 consulted with staff from all
12 elementary schools in Howell to select
families to participate in this meaningful
event, which puts smiles on the faces of the
children and officers who take part.
After picking out gifts for themselves
and members of their families, the chil-
dren joined Local 228 members for dinner
and dessert donated by local restaurants,
including Chick-fil-A, Jersey Mike’s Subs,
Red Moon Pizza and Dunkin’ Donuts. Tar-
get employees and other community vol-
unteers also helped the children wrap the
newly purchased gifts.
Local 228 members who participated in
the Shop with a Cop event experienced the
true spirit of giving as members from the
community and local businesses came to-
gether to make this event so special for the
kids and their families.
East Hanover Local 227 hosts holiday shopping spree

roes and Helpers event. Eight deserving
children from the community were se-
lected to “Shop with a Cop” for the hol-
idays. Each child was teamed up with
an officer and given a gift card to shop
for his or her family and friends, in ad-
dition to picking out something special
for him/herself.
