Generations of giving from Asbury Park Local 6 Almost 46 years ago in Asbury Park, Fred Davis, owner of a little printing store called Clayton Press, was awarded the silver card by William “Billy” Dello and members of Local 6 Asbury Park for his service to the members of the law en- forcement community in Asbury Park and Monmouth County. On July 28, at the Pat Colligan Pension Pig Roast, Gene Dello, who followed in his father’s footsteps as the longtime Lo- cal 6 State Delegate, presented the silver card to Dave Roszel, the current owner of Clayton Press. “Anytime there’s a police function, he’s there to support us, offering his time and his services,” Dello said of Roszel. Throughout his time as owner, Roszel has made it a point to connect with the law enforcement officers of Asbury Park. This idea originated from the days of Ro- szel’s grandfather, Fred Davis. “We’ve always supported anything that was Asbury Park, including the police,” Roszel said. The silver card is especially meaning- ful because it is an award that goes back a few generations in Roszel’s family. In fact, when Clayton’s was passed down to Ro- 66 NEW JERSEY COPS ■ AUGUST 2018 szel, along with it came his grandfather’s silver card. Roszel received the award not only for his work on the annual PBA cards but also for the relationships he’s developed with the law enforcement officers throughout Monmouth County. “Through my work, I’ve become close with 15 to 18 delegates throughout the county,” he said. When it came time to accept the award, Dello and the other delegates through- out Monmouth County were more than ready to thank Roszel for all of his hard work. “It’s an honor for me to be able to pres- ent the award on behalf of Asbury Park and the whole county for his support over the years, and I’m so humbled to be a part of that,” Dello said. At the end of the day, it’s not about the award or the recognition for Roszel; it’s about supporting the men and women in blue. “I was humbled,” said Roszel. “I know it’s just local stuff, but they understand that I understand their life.” d Asbury Park Local 6 State Delegate Gene Dello proudly presents a silver card to Clayton Press owner Dave Roszel, the same as his father did 46 years ago.
