The Luggage
I long for a travel, so long yet so near
I take my first steps, on the path which appear,
The road is so clear, the goal is so near,
“Come! My slave come”, is the call I can hear.
But how do I move forward, how do I go ahead?
I don’t have the means, how can I further tread?
I must gather the luggage, I must pack my bag,
Just some good deeds I must put in my sack.
The deeds are weighed as it’s not about the count,
For that my intentions must be sincere and sound.
The dhikr at dawn and a few rakaahs at night,
Some act of charity, which I must hold on tight.
But is that enough? Is it going to get me through?
I feel I need some luggage of my heart too,
A heart of patience, a heart of humility,
To forgive His creation, I need the ability.
The sincerity of my deeds, the purity of my heart,
Is my precious luggage,
which gets my journey to start.
May Allah I accept us all,
