I have seen my children go through a phenomenal transformation in the past one and a half years. They are growing up to be respectful, obedient, generous, affectionate and loving individuals. Of course, we have our moments, when one of the children will throw a temper tantrum, talk back or do any number of things which children love to do to make their teachers day just a little more challenging. I love that when such issues arise, we are informed about it immediately and then the parents and teachers are able to take steps to correct the behaviour of the children. I feel that this tarbiyah (training and development) is the cornerstone of homeschooling. As Evita, I and the teachers work so closely with the children we are able to identify their strengths and weaknesses not only in academics but also in their spiritual well-being. To this end, we have incorporated a tarbiyah and a drama class in together, so that the children act out different scenarios. This makes it really interesting for them and a lot of fun. I have experienced exceptional benefits through homeschooling, and many which cannot even be put into words. From improvement in character to obedience to academic excellence, the list goes on and on. I can never really see myself sending them to the traditional schooling system after this experience and I pray that due to the duas of my teachers, may this system continue and benefit the kids for the rest of their school years.
