NA:

Unlike so many other novels that depict, Hell and Lucifer as simply an ugly demon with horns standing guard over a lake of fire with a pitchfork. You have taken an approach that Hell is more like a series of unending hallways with doors leading to chambers that hold some form of torture or sin, specifically designed for the soul who inhabits it. Is that how you view Hell in your mind?

RV: I do view hell in that way. I think it is very personal and designed for the individual. My hallway with many doors comes from my phobia with Hotels which I thank the Shining for lol.

NA: Your books are rich in history, in particular, Gunner's backstory as with Dorin's. Are you a fan of world history?

RV: I love history, although I take liberty with it. I mix in fact with fiction to create my own story

NA: Your version of Lucifer isn't the stereotype. You've designed a being with the ability to be seductive on every level, while giving him flaws that most humans possess. Why take this particular point of view of the Prince of Darkness?

RV: Lucifer was once an angel and because of that I have always viewed him as flawed with redeeming qualities. In book five I really expand on Lucifer and his background. The angels to me seem alien so I built a whole world for them called Moriah

NA: You've pushed this series from beyond simply books, you've entered the world of audio and are about to embark into the world of film. You've assembled quite a production team, from your screenwriter, to your actors and finally your director. How do you feel as you prepare to go into production in August?

RV: I am nervous. Not because I don't believe it will be amazing but seeing characters you have created go to film is surreal. As far as my team goes there is no better.

Bonus Question

NA: I know you've written a HH Handbook. Is this the end of HH or is there another story waiting to speak to you?

RV: There will be at least one more handbook in the series. I want to tell Gunners backstory as well as Ari and Finna. I also love the wolf pack in book three and perhaps they will be expanded on someday.
