All Year 12 and Year 13 students along with senior students from Raglan Area School participated in a 3 Day Business Programme which is sponsored by the Maori Woman’s Development League. Teams of students are pitted against each other in a competition to brainstorm a creative and innovative business idea. The team then assumes responsibilities based on the creation of a business plan. As the target audience varies dramatically in terms of prior business knowledge, presenters spend the majority of the 3 days upskilling and refining student knowledge on subjects as diverse as Business Leadership, Strategic Planning, Finance, all facets of Marketing, Production and SWOT Analysis. All these topics contribute to the creation of the business plan. On the third day the learning area is transformed into an Expo Pavilion with each team setting up their expo site attractively to best promote their business to a group of expert judges -– business people in their own right. The judges follow a set criteria and reward points based on what each team presents. The outcome of the judging determines who is awarded with the Business Excellence prize. We would like to thank our Judges - Nanaia Mahuta (Member of Parliament), Jackie Haggie (Tainui), Mel Tooke (FraserNet), ???? (Waikato District Council). All participants received a participation certificate and leaders were rewarded with their own certificate. The students in their groups came up with the following businesses: ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
