Ngaruawahia High School Kapa Haka USA Tour 1998 - Page 67 Monday 6th April 1998 Salt Lake City Richard Crawford posing at the entrance to the mall across from Temple Square. The adult males were driven out to the Salt Lake City airport by Joseph Maere to collect Jesse’s lost travel documents (passport & flight tickets) which were arriving on the 9:30am flight from Hawaii. The replacement of such documents would have proved exceedingly arduous. From there it was on to confirm that the bus was booked for the long trip south tomorrow. The company was Casino Caravans. The bus hired was a 46-seater with toilet and three video screens. The cost was US$1,050.00 for the trip to Boulder City (and back empty). Many of the group ran into each other on Temple Square (mainly all the girls with the boys still off in the mountains) where a large number of photographs were taken. The group went up onto the 26th floor of the Church Office Building and out onto the observation decks to have an elevated look over the City. Rihi Mita-Watene turned up sporting a bright orange back-pack in the shape of the character ‘Tigger” from Winnie The Pooh. Isaac and Jesse’s snow mobiling earned Isaac a sore shoulder as he tumbled off, but nothing that prevented him enjoying the day. Richard, Sandy and Joseph headed out to Highland High School in cold and blustery weather to see part of Highland’s 66-0 win over Sacramento High. Highland play in an all black strip and were just too good for the visiting opposition side.
