Stardome 
JUNE

O

n June 5th 2009 the Year 9’s, Matua 
Dawson,  Whaea  Kimai,  Ms 
Johnston,  and  Whaea  Reg  went  to 
Auckland to the StarDome.   

We  arrived  safely  and  waited  for 
the  other  schools  to  come  out  of  the 
building before we could go in.   

It  was  interesting  that  we  saw  a 
couple  of  girls  wearing  a  school  uniform 
similar to Ngaruawahia. 

Inside  the  dome  we  were 
entertained  by  the  whole  universe  and 
where  certain  planets  and  stars  were  in 
the Solar System.    

The  show  we  watched  was 
Matariki  themed  and  we  learnt  a  lot 
more about this cluster of stars.  We then 

moved  into  the  conference  room  where 
we learned about the world spinning, and 
why  there  are  different  seasons  and 
much more. 

After lunch we headed up to what 
was  once  One  Tree  Hill.    We  were 
informed  of  the  history  of  why  this 
particular  hill  is  so  important  to  the 
Auckland area.   

Once at the bottom of the hill we 
boarded the bus and headed home. 

We  would  like  to  acknowledge 
Solid  Energy  for  their  continued  support 
of  our  Matariki  experience  by 
contributing  to  the  cost  of  transport.
