Wang Hao’ s career reached the lowest point after the consecutive failures in Olympic Games. Nevertheless, he has won all the champions except the Olympic gold medal as a single man table tennis player. Apart from few negative comments people regard him as a role model who deserves to be admired rather laughed at. Because each individual has his or her own“ Alkalis heel” and success is not the sole yardstick to measure a person’ s achievement. In the national team he is just a shy big boy who practices a lot. His training to his younger teammate and stories make a unique contribution to the development of Chinese table tennis by giving the lesson that sometimes never ever give up even tough you can not get the ultimate goal.

Now thirty-year-old Wang Hao has retired from the national team and are going to get married in May. In the interview during his wedding when he was asked whether he regretted about his career, he smiled resignedly and said“ Everyone has his or her lifetime regrets and I am not an exception. Try your best to do it whose process itself is the success. Apart from that, nobody but God can decide.” Indeed, we might not be the one to win but definitely the best as long as we dedicate ourselves fully into what we are in pursuit of.
