World Book Day

We are delighted to say that we will again be supporting World Book Day this year, on Thursday 7th March. Teachers have worked hard to plan lots of exciting activities for pupils on this day to further support a love of Reading.

A list of the key elements are listed below and we would like to point out that we are not asking the children to dress up on the day.

This is primarily to avoid expecting parents to make additional efforts or incur additional costs which can be quite considerable where there are a number of children in the family.

World Book Day has a very important message about promoting reading and we will fully embrace that message. We believe it can be delivered without following a commercial route or putting parents under unnecessary pressure. We are sure the children will have a thoroughly enjoyable day.

The 'book swap'

As part of World Book Day, we will be presenting the children with an opportunity to ‘swap’ one of their own books and bring home a new book without any cost involved. To achieve this goal we are asking children to bring a book into school, which is in good condition and that they would like to swap.

These books will then be collected and arranged in age appropriate selections for children taking part to browse and from which they will then select a new book to take home. This venture has worked extremely well previously and we are optimistic that, with your support, it can be a success again this time around.

Bedtime Stories

We are excited to share with you that five of our teachers have recorded a bed-time story for you to view at home with your children. One of these videos will be added to the website and our social media accounts every day next week at 6.45pm and we hope that you will enjoy them together as a family.

Book Tokens

All of our children will be given a special World Book Day voucher to bring home, which they can use on special promotions at major book sellers.

Twitter

Keep an eye on our Twitter Account next week as we will tweet regularly about the many exciting activities taking place and to let you know when the bedtime stories are available for viewing.
