Break time snacks
All pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will continue to receive a free piece of fruit each day at morning break. Pupils in Year 3 and above have the opportunity to purchase a slice of toast for 20 pence during the break and have the additional choice of a bacon bap, priced at 70p, every Friday.
Milk is available to all children every day priced at 20p per carton. These prices were reviewed by Governors in the Summer Term and will be in place from Monday 17th September onwards.
Children are welcome to bring their own healthy snacks in for break times.
Emergency Contact Details/ Consent forms
It is vitally important that we have the correct, up to date emergency contact information for pupils and we require more than one contact for each pupil. If you haven’t yet returned your ‘Emergency Contact Details’ form or your ‘Additional Pupil Information’ form, please do so as soon as possible or visit the school office to collect a new form, to let us know if there have been any changes to your information or to check that the information we hold is up to date.
We are proud of our work here at St John’s and we enjoy sharing it with you through our Twitter Feed. Please make sure that you have returned your ‘Consent form for Photos and Videos’ so that we can include your children in our communications.
Water Bottles
The benefits of children being well hydrated are well documented and it is generally accepted that it helps children to be healthy while also supporting learning. For this reason we have water dispensers throughout the building which provide chilled, filtered water.
As you can appreciate, having a large number of children with water bottles in the room does present some issues with storage and spillage.
We have therefore found that the best way for pupils to access these dispensers is with a small 500ml sports-lid bottle which they can have readily available in the classroom to use throughout the day. To support this system, we do offer water bottles at £1 from the office which children can reuse after rinsing out.
Parents are of course welcome to purchase other water bottles which can be used in the classroom with the proviso that they are transparent and have a sports lid. Other containers which are bulky or not transparent can be kept in school bags for use during break times.
High School Applications
Those Year 6 children who are resident within Staffordshire will receive a personalised letter outlining details of the application process for High School places. Pupils in Year 6 who live in Wolverhampton or Walsall will receive their details through the post. They are unable to apply through Staffordshire even if they select a Staffordshire school/academy.
The deadline for completed applications is 31st October and it is to be noted that online applications are recognised as the best way to apply by all Local Authorities.
