Roof work

Christmas Fayre

The Parents’ Association Christmas Fayre will be held this Friday with doors opening at 6pm. This important fund raiser is usually well supported and I look forward to it being a success again this year.

You will have received a letter from the Parents’ Association regarding this Thursday’s non uniform day when we ask children to bring into school a contribution for various stalls that will be operating on the evening. A copy of the letter about non uniform is included in the Parents’ Association section

This is the second online edition of our newsletter. I hope that parents find this an improved more eco-friendly way of communicating. It appears that more and more people are accessing the web site www.stjohns-eagle.com and I would encourage everyone to do this regularly. Giles Thatcher our Learning Technologies Manager is working very hard to keep the site informative and interesting. Recent additions to the site include a meet the staff section and also our attempt at the mannequin challenge. We will also be launching an innovative advent section this week.

I would also like to remind staff to access information from our Twitter site to keep up to date with what is happening. Plans are in place to launch a Facebook page in January and again we hope that parents will find this useful. We are always looking to improve communication channels and if parents have any suggestions about how this can be achieved please contact us here at the academy.

I am pleased to say that the deteriorating weather has not severely delayed work on the roof. It has now been agreed that the work will be completed and the site completely cleared by 19th December, shortly after the end of term and ready for us to return in January. The scaffolding will be gradually reduced over the next week or so and I am looking forward to getting the school site looking more welcoming. Although it has been a little inconvenient at times for everyone the work is of course very much needed and the improved insulation and new covering will make a significant part of the building warmer and drier.

Christingle

Our choir will be participating in this the Christingle Service at St. John’s Church on Sunday

December 4th. The service starts at 5pm and everyone is welcome to attend.
