Miss Elwell and Mrs McMahon will be leaving St John’s at the end of this term. Mrs McMahon has secured a teaching post at a school closer to where she lives and Miss Elwell is taking up a teaching post in Dubai.

Whilst the school community is extremely sad that they are leaving St John’s, these opportunities are too good to miss and Miss Elwell and Mrs McMahon are quite rightly, very excited about their new ventures.

Their final day of teaching at St John’s will be on Friday 20th December 2019. I am sure you will join me in thanking Miss Elwell and Mrs McMahon for their contribution to children’s learning, and to the life of St John’s, and to wish them both all the best in their new posts, and for the future.

Of course, this necessitates a change to the teaching arrangements in the classes for the remainder of the year. At the time of writing, we are in the process of recruiting new staff for Year 3 and I am hopeful that I will be able to provide some more details to the parents of pupils in 3KM and 3ME in the next week or so. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Children in need

The annual Poppy Appeal was supported by the school community

again this year.

A number of pupils attended the Remembrance Parade and service at St John’s Church-well done to Oscar Glass and Tabitha Rollins for presenting the school’s remembrance wreath at the service.

As a result of everyone’s donations, a total of £819.28 has been collected for the Royal British Legion. Again, a huge thank you to everyone who supported the Poppy Appeal this year.

St John’s celebrated the annual Children in Need appeal on Friday 22nd November. In exchange for a donation of £1, pupils came to school in non-

uniform and as a result, we raised £530!

Thank you to everyone who helped in supporting this good cause!
