Mrs Alex James-Walker is taking up a new position as a Specialist Attendance Officer with Walsall Local Authority from September. Supporting pupils’ attendance at school (amongst many other things) has been a big part of Alex’s role here at St John’s and we wish Alex well as she continues to help children reach their potential by accessing education, and thank her for the excellent work she has done with the families in Essington over the past 5 years.
Mrs Emma Joyce, who many parents know from the main school office has secured a new position as Administrative Support Officer for Future Generation Trust. Emma has been a great asset to our admin team over the past couple of years and we are delighted to still be working with her at a Trust level!
New Staff
We welcomed Mrs Barber back from her maternity leave on 1st June, and she will be taking up a class teaching role from September.
We also welcome new teacher, Miss Rachel Hall, who will be joining us from September.
Our new SENCo member of staff appointment, Mrs Tracy Harris, will be joining us from September. Mrs Harris is a highly experienced SENCo and has fulfilled this role in different settings. She has already had a number of meetings with Mrs Wright to handover the caseload, and I am sure that she will bring the level of enthusiasm and commitment that we are accustomed to from St John’s staff.
At the time of writing we are in the process of recruiting a Pastoral Manager and an Office Support Manager; we are very hopeful that this will be completed in time for the new term in September.

The staff have made a short video to introduce the children to their teachers for September; the video will be available on the school website from 4pm on Monday 6th July
