Lost Property
Next week we are looking at sorting out the large amount of lost property that has been accumulated this term. An opportunity for parents to recognise any items unclaimed by the children will be provided on Wednesday, 22nd March in the hall at the end of the school day.
I would like to take this opportunity to encourage parents to make sure their child’s name is clearly labelled in all of
their personal items. It is of course very easy for children to misplace their belongings and only when they can be traced by a clearly marked label can we ensure that it is returned to the rightful owner.
Obviously we do not want parents to have to keep buying replacement pieces of uniform or have to store large amounts of clothing ourselves and therefore by labelling items we can avoid these issues.
Lates
Following the recent circulation of attendance letters it is clear that a number of pupils are having their records adversely affected by receiving a mark for being late. A late mark is given to any pupil entering through the school office area after the 8.55 am bell for the start of day.
It is important that all pupils arrive promptly and are ready for start of lessons immediately after registration. There is a lot of evidence to show that those pupils who do not arrive at school on time struggle to make a good start to the day and their learning during the first lesson in particular suffers.
We would be grateful for parents making every effort to ensure their child arrives at St. John’s on time and thank you for your co-operation with this. matter.
