Parking

The problem of parking close to the school is of course an on-going issue. We obviously are aware of the difficulties parents face and we do encourage children to walk to St. John’s where ever possible. We would also like parents to consider all alternatives to help reduce conjestion in the immediate area such as parking further away from Hobnock and Bognop Road. We regularly engage with the Local Authorities to discuss potential solutions and liaise closely with the local police in an effort to help alleviate this issue.

Recently it appears that there have been several incidents of parking which has obstructed the access of local residents to their property. Therefore, I would ask that parents are considerate of people who live directly opposite or adjacent to our academy.

As everyone can appreciate this would be extremely frustrating if their own properties were blocked in this way hopefully these occurrences will be avoided.

On 27th March a group of 36 Year children will be visiting Paris. This is a repeat of a long standing trip that we have undertaken many times before. During the residential visit, pupils stay in a rural setting on the outskirts of the city which has been built around a traditional French Chateau. The accommodation is of a high standard and the pupils have extensive grounds in which they can do lots of evening activities.

The pupils will also visit lots of the famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Stade de France, take a boat trip along the River Seine and spend a whole day in Disneyland. I am sure the pupils will have a thoroughly enjoyable time and we will be offering the same opportunity to our current Year 5 pupils for 2018. Details of that visit will be circulated to them shortly after Easter.

Paris Visit Year 6

Office appointment

I am pleased to inform you that we have recently appointed a new Office Manager.

Tina Clark will be taking up her post on Monday and we are all looking forward to working with her.

The advert for the position attracted a very strong field of candidates and we are confident that Tina will help to keep moving St. John’s forward.
