Friends of Essington

I was pleased to see a number of pupils and their families participate in the recent village litter pick organised by the Friends of Essington. The group do a lot of good work for the community and it is always good to work in partnership with them.

A link to their website has now been added to the Parents Tab of www.stjohns-eagle.com On that site you can see a gallery of the recent litter pick event.

Parents’ Evenings

This week’s Parents’ Evenings were well attended and I hope that those of you who were able to come along were pleased with the progress your child is making. Unlike many schools we like to make the pupils work books available to be viewed by parents 3 times a year so that they can get a clear picture of not only how much work their child is producing but also the standards they are achieving. St. John’s takes great pride in the pupils’ books and it is evident that the vast majority of the pupils take great pride in their work as well.

Just to remind you that next Thursday 23rd March we are holding our special Comic Relief day and asking all the children to donate £1 to this charity for the privilege of not wearing their uniform on that day.

Although Friday is the official day we are using the day before as some children are on school visit on the 24th.

As usual we are expecting all the children to wear some item of red on that day and join in a number of special fun activities we have arranged. We have set ourselves a target of raising £600 and if every child and member of staff does donate on that day we will be reach this amount.
