National Testing

The dates for this year’s Summer term national tests are listed below. We hope that this early notification helps alleviate the issue of avoidable absences. All the tests provide valuable data that will support your child’s progress through their school career and their attendance at these times is therefore very important.

Year 6 SATS

Week beginning Monday 14th May 2018

Children absent during the scheduled tests do not get a chance to take it at an alternative time.

Year 2 SATS

These assessments will be undertaken anytime during May and the dates are therefore more flexible.

Year 1 Phonics Test

Week beginning Monday 11th June 2018

Children absent during this week will receive a score of zero and be required to re-take the test in Year 2.

Photographic Consent

A form is available on our website for parents (policies page under parents heading) who wish to remove consent for their child’s image to be used in connection with academy publications and digital platforms.

The form clearly outlines our code of practice for photographs and video so that parents can make an informed decision. Those parents who wish to withdraw consent for their child should complete and return the form.

If a form is not returned it will be recorded that consent has been approved for your child.

We do believe that our code of practice is very reasonable and reflects the importance we attach to responsible and practical use of pupil’s images.

Maternity News

We are delighted to inform you that the St John’s baby boom has welcomed four new babies over the Summer holiday. The first to arrive safe and well was Mrs Haycock’s daughter Emalia closely followed by Mrs Grocutt’s son, Quinn.

Towards the end of the holiday Miss Bevington and Mr Barber welcomed their daughter Mabel into the world and Mrs Morris’s daughter Lola arrived safely at the beginning of September.

All of our St John’s babies are happy and healthy and all our mum’s and dads are well and enjoying their first few precious weeks with their new-borns. We are very happy to send them our warmest congratulations and wish each and every one of them the very best for the future.
