JEWELLERY AND MAKE UP

Within each newsletter we are going to feature one of our Parent Guides, these informative guides can be found on our website here

In this issue we are looking at jewellery and make up, reminding parents of some of the keys facts surrounding the wearing of jewellery and make up in the Academy.

• On the grounds of Health and Safety, no jewellery e.g. rings, necklaces or bracelets may be worn by pupils. However, traditional watches are permitted and are the responsibility of the pupil.

• Earrings, religious artefacts, watches, hair slides, should always be removed by pupils before participating in physical activity.

• Make-up is not appropriate for school and should not be worn

• Long hair worn by staff and pupils should be tied back for all PE and Outdoor Education activities

When a pupil has just had their ears pierced they are permitted to leave their earrings in during PE lessons as long as they are covered with plasters or tape provided from home and the slip contained on the Parent Guide Jewellery & Make Up is completed and handed to a member of the Academy team. All other times earrings MUST be removed during physical activity.

Morning procedures

Can we remind parents please, that the school’s responsibility for pupils begins at 8.45am; any pupils arriving at school before that time remain the responsibility of their parents/carers until 8.45am.

Reception and Year 1

The doors for Reception and Y1 pupils open at 8.45am and pupils can enter school to get settled into their classrooms and take part in morning activities, before the official start of the school day at 8.55am when the doors are closed. Pupils arriving after the doors are closed enter school through the main office door.

Year 2-Year 6

The gate at the top of the path leading down to the playground is opened at 8.30am. Members of school staff are on duty on the gate and on the playground from 8.45am. Parents are welcome to wait with their children near the gate until the member of staff comes out on duty. At 8.55am when the school day begins, this gate is closed and pupils arriving after this time will have to enter school through the main office door.
