You may recall that at the end of the autumn term 2018, Assistant Headteacher Mrs Jenny Lewis started her maternity leave and her twins were born in January this year.

As she approaches the end of her maternity leave, Mrs Lewis has informed the governors that she wishes to spend some more time with her children and is therefore taking a break from full-time teaching.

Mrs Lewis has been a highly dedicated member of the St John’s staff for the past 17 years, and many families will be familiar with her, particularly because of her work in Little Eagles, Nursery and Reception.

I am sure that parents will join me in thanking Mrs Lewis for her commitment to enabling so many St John’s children to have a positive start to their school career and for her contribution to the life of the school in general, and wish Mrs Lewis every happiness with her family.

Christmas Performances

PTA Christmas Fayre

Thank you to everyone who has attended the Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 Christmas Performances of the Nativity over the past week. Each play had a different theme, but all were enjoyable and entertaining, and reminded us of the story of the birth of Jesus.

The audiences were amazed at how well the children sing, dance and act, and this is down to the hard work of our pupils and staff, and their commitment to doing everything to the highest standard.

The Christmas Fayre was every well attended and we hope that everyone had a most enjoyable evening! A big thank you to the members of the PTA who devote such a lot of their own time, not just on the night, but also in the run up to this type of event, planning and preparing, so that everything runs smoothly.

Thank you also to the school staff, who helped and a special well done to the Y6 Ambassadors who gave up their time on Friday night to help run stalls.

What a great team effort! We hope to update you soon on how much was raised.
