These 104 countries have formed the High Ambition Coalition , and a generous Rainforest Trust donor has contributed toward helping them organize , persuade other countries to join , and get technical support as they work to select and protect each country ’ s 30 %. These efforts directly support our work with national and local NGOs to protect the most important places on Earth for biodiversity conservation and climate mitigation .
All these efforts will come to a head at the UN Biodiversity Conference in Montreal in December . Held once every two years ( although delayed since 2020 because of the pandemic ), this meeting will bring together every country on
Earth to agree on a new biodiversity treaty and global targets for 2030 . Rainforest Trust CEO James Deutsch , will attend and we are working to ensure those targets include 30 % protection of our planet .
