TÜBİTAK 1003 PRIMARY SUBJECTS R&D FUNDING PROGRAM GRANTS NEWS FROM ÖZÜ TTO THE FIRST TTO SUMMIT: 10 TTOs MET AT ÖZÜ The first Technology Transfer Offices (TTO) Summit was held at ÖzÜ on December 27, 2013 with the participation of TÜBİTAK and ten TTO’s. One day event was structured in five panel modules. The Summit consisted of five panels as: TTO Directors’ Panel, Grants Development/Management Services Panel, University - Industry Cooperation Activities Panel, Intellectual Property Management Panel and Entrepreneurship Panel In addition to ÖzÜ TTO, nine other universities that were supported from TÜBİTAK 1513 Program attended the summit: Boğaziçi University, Ege University, Gazi University, Hacettepe University, Koç University, ODTÜ, Özyeğin University, Sabancı University, Selçuk University and Yıldız Technical University. ÖZÜ TTO MENTORED GAZIANTEP UNIVERSITY TTO TO WIN 2014 TÜBİTAK 1513 AWARD ÖzÜ TTO provided mentorship for developing Gaziantep University TTO’s proposal for TÜBİTAK 1513 TTO Grant Program in 2014 and Gaziantep University is selected as new TTOs. Each year 10 TTO’s are awarded a funding of 1 million TL/year up to 10 years upon successful annual evaluation by TÜBİTAK. ÖzÜ was selected as one of the first TTOs In 2013. This year Anadolu University, Bilkent University, Dokuz Eylül University, Erciyes University, Gaziantep University, İstanbul University, İstanbul Technical University, İzmir Institute of Technology, Erciyes University were entitled to be supported. SUCCESS STORIES FROM 2013 THE FIRST EUREKA PROJECT: TICKOTEX “TICKOTEX” the first EUREKA project of Özyeğin University was funded. Assist. Prof. Bahar Başım is the project coordinator of the Turkey team. Kıvanç Textile Inc. is the industrial partner. The project will be lead by an international consortium including Romania, Turkey and Czech Republic. The duration of project is 36 months. The total budget of the project is 1 Million Euro and one-third of the total budget is managed by Turkey. The main objective of the project is the development of novel multifunctional textile structures that include biological active The projects of Assist. Prof. Dr. Güney Güven Yapıcı and Assist. Prof.Dr. Göksenin Yaralıoğlu were funded in “1003 Primary Subjects R&D Funding Program” in May 3, 2013. The total number of the projects evaluated for the “Diagnostic, Cure and Support Purposed Innovative Medical Devices” call is 309, and only 16 of them were nominated for support in the two-stage evaluation process.The expected credentials of the proposed projects were defined as being innovative, creative, and value-added which have potential to create a basis for the larger implementation projects in the field of health through producing know-how and technological outputs. Özyeğin University was the only institution that was granted funding for two projects under this call. ISTKA PROJECTS FUNDED IN 2013 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Arık’s project ‘EVATEG - Energy Efficient Solid State Light Research, Development Education and Demonstration Center’ and Assist. Prof. Dr. Emreh Şener›s project ‘Istanbul Financial Risk Management Laboratory’ are funded by Istanbul Development Agency. »» EVATEG aims at promoting the production of LED lighting, LED TV, LED Screen technologies in Turkey; to develop common areas of use and applicable models for the production and transfer of information and technologies. The total budget of the project is about 1,775,000 TL. and 1,597,500 TL of the budget is the support from ISTKA. »» Istanbul Financial Risk Management Laboratory aims at developing and selling software applications for the countries in the region; and building close ties with the private sector, SMEs, as well as regulatory and supervisory supreme boards and security exchange representatives through a series of trainings and workshops. The total budget of the project is about 842,000 TL. and 742,000 TL of the budget is the support from ISTKA. NEW FP7 PROJECT - BRICKER Özyeğin University Center for Energy, Environment and Economy (CEEE) is one of the partners of BRICKER Project and coordinator of project activities in Turkey. The budget of CEEE is about 1,8 M. Euros. The project was launched in October 2013 with a total project budget of approximately 13 M Euros. The coordinator of the project consortium is Acciona, Spain. The project aims at producing a scalable, replicable and cost effective methodology for refurbishing existing public-owned non-residential buildings. Bricker team at ÖzÜ is headed by Prof. Dr. M. Pınar Mengüç, director of CEEE and delegate at the Energy Commission for the European Union Framework Programmes (EU-FP7) for Turkey.
